This is going one a short one.
Not because this is Day 48 and I'm getting tired of writing daily posts (as
if!) or tired in general (I've felt surprisingly sprightly - exercise does give
you more energy!) - nope, it's really just that there's not too much to say
about this class. It wasn't a boring class - it was just a very slow-paced, low
intensity class where we worked on core stability. Nothing crazy happened, it's
not a sweaty class and one shouldn't expect quick results but it does do what
it says on the tin.
Most exercises used a Swiss
ball, which makes the class more interesting, not to mention bringing in the
crucial stability part of the class. We sat on the balls and twisted left to
right with one foot held up, lay back on the balls for sit-ups, leaned over the
balls for the superman balance position and planked with the ball under our
thighs (or shins or feet, depending how hard you wanted) while twisting the
body from left to right. To be honest, most of the exercises were new to me and
though the moves are not difficult to understand, you do need to focus on each
one to keep your balance. Your core is engaged for the majority of the class
and whilst you are never in relentless, mind engulfing bouts of discomfort,
regular attendance of this class will, undoubtedly, improve your core
stability.
And the only final point to
note is that it is the only fitness class where the background music can be
Boyz II Men and it doesn't seem totally out of place. Nothing like some 90s RnB
smooth groves gently playing in the background while you do some slow core
exercises to relax you. At least it was “End of The Road” and not “I’ll Make
Love to You.”
